The fact that I have about as many recipes for on the blog for chocolate as for chicken says something about my priorities. I’m rather fond of the stuff. Dark chocolate in some shape or form is always in my pantry. And when I’m not eating it straight up, I like to spin it into bars, cookies, and other treats. Below is a line up of 12 healthy(ish) chocolate recipes. They range from two-ingredients chocolate-dipped strawberries to dark chocolate brownies enriched with tender sweet potato.
You’ll see I’ve included a few notes for each recipe that might lend some healthy(ish) appeal. I’m not here to tell you that this is all a bunch of health food, but I will say these sweets don’t leave me with a tummy ache or sugar hangover (and they hit the sweet spot, literally). As for what type of chocolate to buy, I typically aim for dark chocolate that is 70% or more cacao (translation: less sugar, more antioxidant-rich flavanols. Guittard is my go-to brand. I also think the big baking bars from Trader Joe’s are quite good as well as the bulk chocolate sold at Sprouts, both of which are a little more budget-friendly than Guittard.
