8 Mom-Approved Valentine’s Day Treats

We’ve talked about this before. How, despite all the naysayers, skeptics, and romantic grumps who rail against a holiday they claim is solely about selling overpriced roses and underwhelming candy, when it comes to Valentine’s Day, I’m all in. A celebration built entirely around love and chocolate? How can you get down on that?

Before I had kids, Valentine’s Day enthusiasm was directed entirely towards Mr. Mom’s Kitchen. He’s had to share the stage, though, since the arrival of our girls, which means the day has become about romantic AND maternal love.

Chocolate always enters the picture in our house, and I imagine in some of yours, too. And so, in honor of both love and chocolate, I’ve gathered up eight recipes to help you get your Valentine’s Day groove on. Although by no means artery-scrubbing healthful, these 8 Mom-Approved Valentine’s Day Treats  pack more of a wholesome punch than most.

Chocolate bark is always a go and you can mix and match so you don’t get bored. My favorite combination is dark chocolate – always – and a mix of whatever nuts I have handy; this way I keep the sugar level low and up the healthy fats.
