Homemade Strawberry Milk

Homemade Strawberry Milk - Mom's Kitchen Handbook

It’s the season for strawberries and this Homemade Strawberry Milk is a terrific thing to do with them. Delicious, yes, and also far better for you than typical store-bought strawberry milk. Indeed, scan a bottle of Nesquik and you’ll quickly learn that it’s missing strawberries entirely.  What isn’t missing are some ingredients you could happily live without, including artificial flavors and red dye 3.

Why do that to yourself when you can make strawberry milk in your very own kitchen. It’s tasty, will take you about one minute to make, and gets its flavor and rosy color not from a chemistry lab, but from Mother Nature in the form of (you guessed it) strawberries.

A Nutritious Blend

Enjoy this as a nourishing drink as part of breakfast or an afternoon snack.  You’ll be getting a boatload of calcium and eight grams of protein in every glass, as well as a boost of vitamin C and fiber from the berries. If you stow it in the refrigerator overnight after blending, the pectin in the strawberries will cause the milk to thicken, which has an appeal all its own. Just give it a stir and enjoy.

Creamy Strawberry Milk

Since the sweetness of strawberries can vary, feel free to tinker with the amount of berries and maple syrup to suit your tastebuds. You can store this in the fridge overnight, if you like, and the natural pectin in the strawberries will result in a pleasingly thicker milk. Just be sure to stir well before drinking.
